On 14th February 2014, the staff and students of Stds.
V and IX were on their way to a field trip at
the Nehru Science Centre. The day started with the customary prayer
service over the intercom after which the boys were ready to jump on to their
buses for a trip to the science centre. Besides entertaining themselves with
some singing (and eating), we got down to some serious stuff during the journey
- jotting down some important landmarks and the many beautiful sights along the
way. We arrived at the ‘Nehru Science
Centre’ where we trooped to spot and identify the different flowers and trees.
Then we were directed to the hall that housed a number of scientific models and
experiments. They were educational as
well as fun ‘hands-on’ activities. Later we were shown a 3-D film on the
‘Monsters of the Deep’. We then visited the various sections of the centre.
Some of the models and experiments were explained to us by our teachers. An
hour later after having visited the length and breadth of the centre, we
entered The Science Odyssey , the large dome-like theatre, where we were shown
an amazing 45-minute documentary based on ‘The Wild Of California’. We engaged ourselves later in getting the
answers to a list of questions handed over to us, while the students of Std. V
had some light recreation in the park. At the end, we partook of some snacks and
refreshed ourselves on our way back to school.
Tired yet
delighted to have made the trip, we returned back to school at 2:00 pm after
which we assembled in our classes where the teachers appointed some students to
prepare charts, reports, etc. based on the field trip. At 2:30 pm, we returned
home having experienced a day of education with loads of fun!
